Crimefest Logo - title_bobIn May 2014 I was delighted and trepedatious in equal measure to speak at my first literary festival.

My first panel, entitled ‘Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock: Ramping up the tension!’, was enormous fun thanks to my fellow speakers, Collette McBeth, Alison Joseph, Sophie McKenzie and participating moderator Andrew Taylor, although as my book was due out for several weeks, I did suffer a little imposter syndrome.  Happily somethign miraculaous happened overnight – see my blog post 14. Getting your book!

Crimefest are wonderful in ensuring newcomers are also invited to join a ‘Debut Author: An Infusion Of Fresh Blood’ panel. So I was introduced to the crime fiction world along with wonderful new talents, Clare Donoghue Rob Gittins, Claire Kendal and Paul Mendelson!

In 2016 I was invited back to speak on ‘Got Demons: Does a Fiction Protagonist Need To Have Added Angst?’ with Delores Gordon-Smith, Sarah Hilary, Fergus McNeill and participatin moderator David Mark. We had a fantastic time and I can’t thank both Sarah and Fergus enough for saying such flattering thinsg about If I Should Die!

In 2017 it was ‘Dark Pasts: Creating Complex Characters’ with authors, James carol, S.J.I. Holliday, Julia Crouch and participating moderator Hilary Bonner.

In 2018 I spoke on ‘Nightmares And Trauma: Putting Your Characters Through The Mill’ with Lucy Cameron, Matt Johnson, Collette McBeth, and participating moderator Michael J. Malone. It was intersting speaking about my protagonist, Stark, whilst sharing a panel with Matt Johnson who has lived the real life of army, police and PTSD. Matthew has been very kind about Stark, and subsequently also helped out with some of my polic radio lingo and proceedures in Between The Crosses. Please go read his books!
